Jose A. Borrego:
Mr. Borrego was raised as a son of farm workers in California's Central Valley. His family were migrant farm workers for most of his youth and taught him the importance of hard work and being educated as a means of succeeding. His parents emphasized the importance of culture, language, and the arts, to which he has been a devoted student throughout his life.
Mr. Borrego studied Political Science with an emphasis in Chicano Studies at UC Davis and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in 1993. As an undergraduate he served as President of the Latino Political Rights Group, MECHA, was active in Chicano fellowship programs, and became involved in the arts through the student dance company, Danzantes del Alma. He was admitted to McGeorge School of Law and served as Co-President of the LatinoLaw Students Association on campus. As a law student he worked as an intern under then Assembly Member Bustamante and well as for MALDEF, and Legal Services of North California. He received his Juris Doctorate from McGeorge in 1995. Mr. Borrego went on to study Cultural Anthropology in a Master's Program at CSU Sacramento. Throughout his legal carrier, Mr. Borrego has worked with several small law firms in the furtherance of Worker's and immigrant's rights and helping the disabled. His professional associations include: The California Applicants' Attorney Association (1998-Present); member of the Sacramento Bar Association (2000-Present); and member of the Sacramento County Bar Worker's Compensation Section (2004-Present, Current Acting Board).
Mr. Borrego has been active in the Sacramento arts community throughout his education and legal carrier. As an avid dancer, he helped found the professional dance studio, Raices de Mi Tierra in 1995; he has served on the Board of La Raza Galería Posada; and the Festival de la Familia Entertainment Committee. Mr. Borrego served as Chair of the Danzantes Unidos State Wide Committee and convention in 2001.
Office Manager for Borrego Law Corporation, attended Bishop Manogue High School (Graduating in 1990) and Sacramento City College to study Administration of Justice/Business. Recently completed the Legal Secretarial Training Course and certified in handling Personal Injury cases. She is bilingual and enjoys assisting the Spanish speaking community.
Miss Lopez has been a Notary Public of the State of California from May 2000 and has been in the field of Worker's Compensation and Personal Injury since 1994. She is also a member of the Sacramento Legal Secretaries Association.
